Greek Empire

There are two greek societies which are Athens and Sparta. The Athenian society had a culture which focused on religion, athletics, philosophy, science, and theatre while the Spartan society had a culture based on athletics and war. The Spartans concentrated solely on war. The political organization of Athens was at times a dictatorship and sometimes a democracy. Sparta was ruled by two kings and it was mostly despotic although Spartan generals, veterans, and elders had some say as well. Spartan social structure was made of slaves, warriors, generals, and the two kings. Athenian social structure was made of slaves, citizens and soldiers, scholars, priests, and politicians.

Achaemenid (Persian Empire)

Persian society was more similar to Athenian society although there were no slaves in the social structure. Persians were freemen and despised slavery. They freed the Jews from slavery in Babylon. The Persian culture focused on athletics, spirituality, philosophy, war, music, literature, science, and old traditions. The Persians did not have a democracy. The Persian government was mostly despotic. 

the mongolian invasion of china and central asia resulted in a disruption of the silk road as the chinese garrisons lost support from the chinese kingdoms which fell under the mongols. however, as the mongols established a formal dynasty in china, the successors of genghis khan restored the garrisons along the silk road allowing the safe travel caravans again.
