before the executive order people of color where segregated in the Armed forces of the united states and also segregation was based on Religion and  countries of origin. people with different color , religion or origin was not given equal opportunity in the armed forces and this caused a huge segregation in the Military and in order to end such Segregation the president gave an executive order that saw the armed forces integrated as one.
