The State constitutions was set up to help in the rule of people within that territory/state.These constitutions help to create a voice for the people as the citizens are closer to the State government than the Federal. It helped to create a foundation for the US constitution.

An example is the Bill of Rights which was gotten from the State constitutions as it helped to improve democracy .It gave rights to the people to vote for who they wanted, freedom of speech, religion and association which are the tenets of democracy.
