WHY was the economic state of Germany in the 1930s important to understanding how the Nazis gained power? * 1.The Allied Forces in WWI had taken most of Germany's territory and refused to give it back. Hitler promised the German people that he would buy back the land once Germany was rich from conquering neighboring countries.
2.After WWI, Germany had to pay many nations for the damages and costs of the war. When the Great Depression hit, many Germans became bankrupt and desperate. This allowed Hitler to gain popularity as he promised to return Germany to a place of power.
3.When the Great Depression hit, Germany was not as affected because they were already being punished for their role in WWI. This allowed Hitler to take over since he was able to promise peace and wealth.
