This republic adopted the "bear flag" which is now used as the state flag of the state of California. The flag has a star, a grizzly bear and a red stripe. If California were to separate again, and it needed a national anthem, it could look something like this:

California, California, beautiful and strong,

I can never be away from you for very long.

Your sunny skies, your open sea, your brave history,

Make me proud to be a part of this glorious mystery.
