Rawls argued that we can derive two principles of justice, by considering a thought experiment, behind the veil of ignorance, which strips people of knowledge about their individual circumstances and characteristics. Are there any social structures, characteristics, or institutions in this country currently, that violate either or both of these two principles? Explain what the social structure is, and describe why it violates one or the other principle and thus, why it is unjust.
