Imagine you are a farmer living in the hills of ancient Greece. Your brother-in-law, a fisherman who lives on the coast, has just come to visit, and the two of you sit down to talk about your lives and work. Write down what you, as a farmer, might talk about, such as your crops and farm animals. Then write what your brother-in-law might tell you about his experiences as a fisherman. Be sure to mention the weather and climate and how they affect your work and his. Then, talk about the city-states in which you both live. Explain how geography may have influenced the region to develop separate city-states instead of one government that unifies all the people.

Life as a farmer: It was hard if you didn't have enough land. You had to wake up every morning and take care of the crops. It was hard, especially when diseases spread to animals because there wasn't enough food.  If someone does or doesn't buy your products you had to pack up everything because of bugs and bees. I farmed a lot in the summer because when it's winter it's freezing cold, the fields are covered with snow and ice. I had to farm a lot in the summer time, if I didn't farm enough my bussiness would be as bad.

Life as a fisherman: Life, was based of mother nature. It was hard to catch fishes unless you had something to feed them. Sometimes i would be able to sell more fish than usual, it all depends on how much I catch, but I have to spend it on my boats (and the thing you catch a fish with). Sometimes the sharks would eat the fishes so they'd be not a lot of fishes in the sea. Sometimes I'd pray that there's a lot of fishes in the sea so I can catch a good amount and sell them. When it was winter I couldn't fish properly, BUT I was able to make little holes to fish in, which was a bit hard because I couldn't see much.
