Women gained the Supreme Court's support for the argument that women could not

The suffrage movement collapsed after rejection of its goals by Congress and
disappeared for the next fifty years.
Frustrated by failure to win the vote, the movement shifted to focus on getting women
admitted to colleges in greater numbers
