1. Emmett Till was an African American teenager. When he was a child, his parents separated and he was raised by his mother and grandmother his entire life.

4. After 65 years, Emmett's murderers have still not been punished. Once they confessed to murdering him, they were never punished and they spent their entire lives in freedom instead. But an organization called 'The Emmett Till Legacy Foundation' has honored him by telling his story to others, planning events and fundraisers, and encouraging people to support and donate. People have also created books, songs, and documentaries about him. Author James Baldwin wrote a book on Emmet called 'Blues for Mister Charlie’ while William Faulkner wrote several essays about him.
