What was the purpose of the fourteenth amendment? How was the amendment interpreted by the courts? How did that interpretation changed over time?

The fourteenth amendment is the amendment that grants all people “equality”. More specifically black Americans this amendment was made from several cases, a famous one being Morrison vs the United states. The interpretation has been changed over time due to the courts finding equality a very hard thing to satisfy in present time and the concept has been changed both for the fairness of the people and the justice of the courts.
