Roosevelt was a social Darwinist a. Bigotry was his mantra. He was obsessed with his Northern European stock. He was openly prejudiced against Southern Europeans, Asians blacks Hispanics etc. Lincoln evolved from a man with the normal prejudices of his time to one who at the time of his death was influenced by what he had learned about the mettle of Blacks. Lincoln hated having to engage in war, hated hunting hated the bloodshed. Roosevelt glorified it. Relished war. Was chomping at the bit for another war to fight in.
