Why were most industrialized nations building empires in the late 1800s and early 1900s?

Industrialization occurred from this time. Machines were invented in order to help in mass production. They were able to create capitalism and abolished some of the traditional practices.  Industrialized nations were able to get additional resources in order to provide more raw materials for mass production.

- speech aimed to potentially create danger could be banned.
