Why was the American revolution about more than just taxes? ASAP PLZ

The American Revolution was principally caused by colonial opposition to British attempts to impose greater control over the colonies and to make them repay the crown for its defense of them during the French and Indian War (1754–63). Wars cost a lot of money, so Congress was forced to go back to the taxation drawing board to raise revenue when the Civil War broke out in 1861. The income tax was officially born, imposed at a rate of 3 percent on all citizens who earned more than $800 a year. But as it turned out, this wasn't enough to fund the war.
