In the summer of 1788, George Washington predicted that the ideas in the Federalist Papers "will merit the notice of
posterity [future generations], because in (the papers) are candidly and ably discussed the principles of freedom and the
topics of government, which will always be interesting to mankind so long as they shall be connected with civil society."
Washington was right. Even today people debate the appropriate balance of power between
the federal government and
state governments. And the Federalist Papers remain meaningful to such debates. What do you think are some of the
