Explain what each of the four Progressive Amendments did.

The Progressive Era saw widespread reform in social welfare and politics and led to four Amendments being passed which were the 16th to the 19th Amendments.

These Amendments brought change to the United States:

16th Amendment - this allowed the federal government to tax incomes of Americans and not have to share it amongst states according to their population. 17th Amendment - this changed the Constitution to allow for Senators to be directly elected by their constituents instead of the State Legislatures as had been the case. 18th Amendment - this Amendment led to the Prohibition Era as it banned the sale or transaction of any kind that involved alcohol with some very few exceptions. 19th Amendment - this Amendment allowed women to vote by categorically stating that people should not be prevented from voting because of their sex.

In conclusion, these four Amendments brought profound change to the United States during the Progressive Era with their effects still lasting till today.
