When you complete the assignment, keep in mind that if you would have actually sent this postcard, it would be visible to any person who delivers messages, even if it is sealed, someone can easily open the postcard and read the material. The challenge of the assignment is to write about different aspects of medieval Japan (social, political, religious, intellectual, or economic) without bias. Meaning, you can only state the facts and you need to be very careful about expressing an opinion.

For each postcard you can focus on just one aspect of medieval Japan, or combine 2 or three together. If you discuss one or three, you still must write an entire paragraph. You need to discuss the geography in at least one post card along with another aspect so one postcard will have at least two components. For instance, postcard one you can discuss the political tensions and describe Japan's relationship to the other nation. Then the second postcard could focus only on social aspects.

Be sure to include specific details about Japan and avoid generalizations, such as responding….”They have leaders.” That’s great that they have leaders because most countries/societies do have leaders. To receive credit you need to describe the type of leadership, the names, the details about the leaders, etc. Use this same model when you discuss other aspects of medieval Japan.
