Thomas Jefferson borrowed heavily from the Enlighten Philosopher John Locke in writing the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson stated that "all men are created equal and have unalienable rights." Jefferson believed that this rights are the right  to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Centuries later they are the foundation of American society. On the other side I don't believe that Jefferson believed in equality as he was holding slaves himself, thus showing that he don't believe in that idea truly.

Actually, right to life and liberty are ideas proclaimed by Locke, while Jefferson added a part about pursuit of happiness. We can't say that Jefferson really believed in the equality of all people, as he owned plantation in which hundreds of slaves worked.

the tortures and assassinations committed by the ss were the result of an ideology developed long before the armed conflict, this ideology was based on the racial supremacy of the germans over the rest.
