Which two inventions changed agriculture in the late 1800s

  I think that the two inventins that changed agriculutre in the late 1800s were the steel plow and the mechanincal reaper.

  The inventor of the steel plow was John Deere, he did it in the state of Illinois on 1837 as a response of the problem in working with the cast-iron plows into the tough prairie soil of Illinois, he came to the conclusion that a plow made out of highly polished steel would be better to handle the soil conditions of the prairie.

  On behalf of the mechanical reaper wich is a semi-automated device that harvests crops the invention of this machine in the U.S. is attributed to Cyrus McCormick but he improved the invention of his father Robert and patented it on 1834; this machine was a horse-drawn farm implement to cut small grain crops. During the next decades the McCromick reaper competed against the Hussey reaper dispite they were quite similar but the date of creation was under discussion becauso Cyrus claimed that his reaper was actually invented on 1831, two years before the Hussey´s invention.

  This both invention were so important for the agriculture during the 19th century because farming was significant to the economy and the farmers  needed technology to produce goods efficiently and effectively a way to do this was by working faster with lower costs. With these inventions the farmes expend less time and energy as well as money spent on equipment. They also improved the soil in which they work by making it easier to cultivate on it because of the loose of the prairie in the case of Illinois.
