Aristotle, is recognized as one of the greatest philosophers of all time. Born in ancient Greece, he lived between 384 and 322 B.C and he was responsible for the creation of the Lyceum and the Peripatetic school. Together with Plato, who was Aristotle´s teacher, and one of the biggest influences in his life, the two of them are considered the fathers of Western philosophy. Aristotle studied and spoke about many subjects of study, including literature, and one of the things he observed was the definition and recognition of tragic heroes, and what their characteristics should be. In essence, Aristotle defines a tragic heroe as a person who, through his/her own mistakes, be them intended or not, generates in people a sense of pity and fear.
