From many years during the presidency of Roosevelt in United States, People of the country wanted a canal to be built across Central America which eventually would lead to Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. The two places emerged for the building of Canal and that were Panama and Nicaragua. But it was difficult to decide that which one of these both should be chosen to build the canal on and to decide this, President Roosevelt made a committee whose work was to decide on this issue and come up with a name. Many engineers were in favor of canal to be made in Panama s they said that doing so would cost less but for this United States had to but land from French Company which demanded more so eventually Nicaragua was chosen to make canal but by the time it was chosen, The French company reduced its prices still it seemed as canal would be built in Nicaragua. But, a volcano took place there as it was a volcano prone area and this weakened the support for Nicaragua and eventually Canal was made in Panama as the cost to make that canal was less and government found out to be a safer option also.
