The Quartering Act required colonist to give shelter, fuel, horses, and food to British soldiers if there is not enough space in barracks. Troops assigned quarters in public houses and inns.

There is chaos and anger among the colonists because they did not want to pay for the troops. Many colonists are expressing their views against it to their neighbours and fellow people. Many colonists, treated soldiers badly. Colonist cannot go against the Act if found, punished by British officers.

If a British soldier showed up at my house needing a place to stay I will politely refuse to accept it. If he insists, I will be civil to him and provide him home and food.

monarchy doesn’t have to have the hereditary element. there have been elective monarchies in the past where you choose your king-for-life and when he dies elect someone else for the job.
