The British were in debt from the war (French and Indian) and they decided to start taxing the colonists because they needed money. The British forced these taxes onto them without asking their permission or giving them a say. The American colonists were angered and this lead to many acts getting passed, small government groups to be formed, and the Americans started to get ready for war. Acts like the Tea Act of 1773 passed on April 27th and The Stamp Act of 1765 passed on March 22nd. The tea act put taxes on tea which made the Americans start to boycott it, the Stamp Act put taxes on paper goods and more like sugar and newspaper, the colonists started to boycott most goods that the British were creating . These are some of the issues that caused the revolutionary war/issues they were facing before the war
