Why didn't Thomas Paine put his name on the cover of Common
Sense?

Thomas Paine likely didn’t want to draw attention to his real identity. He was a patriot with very forthright views supporting American Independence, and this made him a target of the British. Some loyalist or British soldier could have him arrested or maybe even killed. Patriot authors would even go so far as to use pseudonyms to hide their identities even more effectively.

So, long story short, he didn’t want to get prosecuted. Hope this helps.
