What are the reasons that the spanish explored and colonized america

The Spanish were greedy. They wanted to build their empire profiting on trade and other objects found on the Americas. The Americas had good land, new animals and crops, and vast natural resources of minerals like gold. Colonizing America would bring them power in politics, and the economy.
