From 1603 to 1715 the French and English monarchies were different by the opposing types of governments, France has absolutism and England has constitutionalism. Also, the restriction of power is drastically different, France's kings had absolute power and England's kings are restricted by Parliament.                                                                                                              In the Kingdom of England, the Glorious Revolution of 1688 led to a constitutional monarchy restricted by laws such as the Bill of Rights 1689 and the Act of Settlement 1701, although limits on the power of the monarch ("a limited monarchy") are much older than that (see Magna Carta).

The Kingdom of France as remnant of the preceding absolute Kingdom of France, was a constitutional monarchy that governed France from 3 September 1791 until 21 September 1792, when this constitutional monarchy was succeeded by the First Republic.
