Ötzi was found with an arrow lodged in his shoulder. For this reason, the most plausible cause of death is blood loss from the wound. The arrow damanged the nerves and blood vessels of his shoulder, as well as parts of his lungs. His wounds would have provoked an amount of blood loss that would be deadly even with current medical treatments.
