Why is mesopotamia known as the fertile crescent?

Mesopotamia is known as the Fertile Crescent for the following reasons:

The term "Fertile Crescent" was first used by American archeologist James Henry Breasted in 1914 high school literature. According to his study, the Nomads or wanderers found areas in western Asia that were good for agriculture, initially to feed their animals and soon settled there.  They found fertile soil especially in Mesopotamia, the area between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in what is currently the state of Iraq and parts of Iran, Kuwait and Turkey.The Fertile Crescent is a crescent-shaped area or a boomerang-shaped region in the Middle East that was known as the cradle of civilization and the birthplace of several ancient kingdoms. The Fertile Crescent includes ancient Mesopotamia.
