The Iron Curtain speech really established the relations between the Western Allies and USSR, a tense one at that. Churchill actively spoke against the policies of USSR. It can be seen from this speech it metaphorically established how the Soviet Union and the Western Allies turned their backs against eachother because of their different political/economical systems. Which is something the iron curtain itself being the divider of these two conflicting world views, rearing heads near eachother. The soviet union wanted to cut all ties with the west.
