5. From the 1500s through the early 1900s, Europe experienced several periods
marked by major social, political, or economic change. These included:
• The scientific revolution
• The Enlightenment
• The Industrial Revolution
In a three- to five-paragraph essay, explain which of the three periods you think was
most important to world history. Your essay should describe the changes that took
place during the period, as well as the short- and long-term effects on Europe and
the rest of the world, and it should provide historical evidence supporting the
period's importance. It should also include one paragraph explaining why the other
two events are less important than the one you chose. (10 points)
