1- The war in Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001, was launched by the United States and the United Kingdom in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Although the Allies managed to overthrow the Taliban government, this former government movement has since partially recovered its strength. The campaign was less successful than originally expected to achieve the goal of limiting Al Qaeda.
