Gender-based inequality manifests in various aspects of social life in Japan, from the family to political representation, playing particular roles in employment opportunities and income, and occurs largely as a result of differing gender roles in traditional and modern Japanese society.

Gender inequality in Japan will seriously decrease the chances of females getting a job that is considered a "male job" and will be stuck to housekeeping tasks. As for China, confusion culture and family pressure may reduce the chance for females to get a job and marry instead. Also females in China may get less income.
