The Austro-Prussian War was a segment of a larger conflict or battle between Prussia and Austria, and it ended in Prussian supremacy over German states.

During the 1600s and 1700s, Austrian and Prussian kings attempted to expand their empires as the central point of territorial change.

The following are the territorial changes that occurred in Prussia:

Austria acquired Venice and much of northern Italy, while Prussia obtained lesser German provinces in the west, Swedish Pomerania, and 40% of the Kingdom of Saxony. Parts of Poland were taken by Russia.

The territorial adjustments occurred as a result of Austria's fear of Britain's growing might. Prussia became a larger menace to Austria than France. Prussia was seen by Austria as an ally in the fight against the Ottomans.
