As the most powerful country in the world it is the job of the U.S. to defend vunerable populations in different countries, regions, etc. Often, we are the only, or one of the only, countries both rich and feared enough to do this, and therefore, compared to other countries, can shoulder much more of a burden than other poorer, less developed countries can. This, in many ways, translates to how we, compared to other countries, can handle combating a genocide- we have a strong army that can bring corrupt goverments into submission, as well as nuclear weapons and a prominent seat in the UN. Not to mention, we can sanction, boycott, or tariff the goverments allowing for the genocide to happen, therefore heavily crippling their economy, as the dollar is the most widely used and valuable, as well as one of the most stable, currencies in the world as of now.
