Cesar Chavez on the other hand was also a renowned civil right activists who employed non-violent means in transforming the position of farm workers in the United States. He brought the plights of farm workers to the attention of the government through non-violent means such as marches, hunger strikes, boycott, etc. He advocated for an improvement in the working condition of farm workers and also for an increase in their wages. The was able to achieve these goals. Also, his activities triggered the enactment of the labor legislation in the United States which recognized the rights of farm workers to form trade union, and also collectively bargain for the rights and welfare of farm workers. He was also the co founder of the National Farm Workers Association which subsequently metamorphosed into the United Farm Workers Association. As a result of his remarkable contributions toward some the expansion of the civil rights of American citizens, particularly the farm workers rights, he was awarded a posthumous noble prize in 1994 by the American government.
