Describe how the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency affected Texas.

Texas was a slave state and its entire economy was based off of agriculture. But to maintain its export slaves were required to work the fields. But with Lincoln's promise of releasing slaves its economy would be ruined. So eventually they cut ties with the United States and joined to form the Confederation.
