How do you the responses of China and Japan to Western imperialism in the 1800s differ?

China - often isolated from other cultures and believed that their country was surrounded by barbarians. The Chinese avoid contact with Europeans and European ideas. By the 1800s they were falling far behind western Nations. As time went on the Qing dynasty became powerless to keep out foreigners.

Japan – the new leader Maisie and his advisor started Japan on a path of modernization we going to study Wester science and industry. they built up and modernize their armed forces. As Japan became more powerful, western imperialism began to treat them differently from China.
