In 1781 he taught school and worked as a saddle-maker, then he became a lawyer His political offices were the 7th President of the United States, serving from 1829 to 1836.  He also served as US Congressman in 1796-1797 and US Senator from TN in 1797-1798 and again in 1823-1825.  His resident state was Nashville Tennessee
