The "Scandinavians" eventually started exploration in the 8th century. Some of them were seafarers such as the Vikings who were able to travel and attack people in the sea. Some say it happened because they were trying to flee from their overpopulated areas, as well as the existence of famine.

However, when they arrived in America, it is said that their settlement was not extensive. One reason for this was their encounter of aggressive Indians. So, their settlements were not lasting in the New World.  When they made settlements, they were constantly attacked by the natives.
