The glorious revolution of 1688 is also called Bloodless revolution, it took place from 1688 to 1689 in England. Catholic King James Second was overthrown and was replaced by his daughter Mary and her husband William of Orange.

During the revolution king James abdicated and fled the country. William and Mary were proclaimed the king and Queen they agreed to the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was was an act of parliament that guaranteed rights to the citizens of England.  It was later added to the Act of Settlement in 1701. These two documents helped to establish parliamentary sovereignty  and gave parliament more power and made supreme to all other institutions.
