The British authorities conducted their first census in Palestine in 1922. There were 680,000 Arabs and 84,000 Jews. The Jews were just 12% of the Arab population. Those numbers increased due to large migration in the following decades. The GDP of the Jewish economy in 1922 was just 25% of that of the Arab GDP, but the Jewish standard of living measured in GDP per capita  was twice that of the Arab.
