The United states today is a superpower on the international scene. From economic, political, educational or military points of view.  

The Monroe doctrine was established two centuries ago, which helped America became free from the European Great Powers. This begun in 1823. President James Monroe stated this doctrine. Basically, separated the old world (Europe) with the new world (Latin American independent countries). This doctrine also claimed the United States would not interfere in the political affairs of Europe.  

When the U.S. emerged as a major world power and gained military and economy grow in the 20th century, the Monroe Doctrine justified a long series of U.S. interventions in Latin America. Fighting a war with Spain for Cuba, annexing Hawaii, then the World War I came along and engaged with European countries like allies. After the World War II and a wave of isolation, the Us was the most powerful economic power. The US funded the United Nations. The U.S. has successfully managed to identified enemies in order to continue with the interventions.

the berlin blockade was an international crisis that arose from an attempt by the soviet union, in 1948–49, to force the western allied powers (the united states, the united kingdom, and france) to abandon their post-world war ii jurisdictions in west berlin. in march 1948 the allied powers decided to unite their different occupation zones of germany into a single economic unit. in protest, the soviet representative withdrew from the allied control council. coincident with the introduction of a new deutsche mark in west berlin (as throughout west germany), which the soviets regarded as a violation of agreements with the allies, the soviet occupation forces in eastern germany began a blockade of all rail, road, and water communications between berlin and the west. on june 24 the soviets announced that the four-power administration of berlin had ceased and that the allies no longer had any rights there.
