What was the primary criticism of affirmative

The policies which support the members of a group which has suffered discrimination is called  affirmative action. Its main goal is to bridge the inequalities in education, employment, diversity and to redress harms done to such groups in the past. In US affirmative action was first created by the Executive order no 10925.  

This order was passed by president John F Kennedy on 6th march 1961. According  to the order all government servants were required no to discriminate against any employee on the basis of creed, caste, national origin and colour. Order 10925 was expanded by Lyndon Johnson to include women and signed the Civil Rights Act into Law.  

He told that the government wanted to increase the minority employment but didn't want to impose any quotas. He set goals and time frames for increasing the employment asked the federal official to show affirmative action to improve the minority employment.

Critics argue this because they consider any type of affirmative action towards a group is against the American dream.
