I wouldn't have wanted to go on the Lewis and Clark expedition. First of all, the expedition consisted of mostly military men (called the Corps of Discovery) and the civilians were mostly there to carry the numerous supplies and set up camps. The purpose of the expedition was to explore the uncharted US lands obtained in the Louisiana Purchase. This territory was filled with many dangers including hostile Indians, bears and other wildlife, and risky terrain. Plus, there was always the risk of starvation, dehydration, and infection. Also, it was a serious journey, with a very specific purpose. The expedition was initiated by President Jefferson to explore the newly purchased land in the West, so the importance of the trip was significant. I believe that the roundtrip journey of over 8,000 miles over the Rocky Mountains, through Wyoming, Idaho,  Oregon to the Pacific Ocean and back (traveling only on horses and feet) is not a journey I would have wanted to participate in.
