The Volstead Act resulted in the Eighteenth Amendment of the US Constitution. In this Act wine, beer and Liquor were declared as intoxicating liquor and were banned. The prohibition was enforced with the Eighteenth Amendment of US constitution that was proposed on 18th December 1917 and ratified on 18th December 1917.

Later this amendment was replaced by Twenty-first Amendment. This amendment was outcome of efforts by the temperate movement. Moreover, the 18th Amendment was not a ban on the consumption of alcohol but it was a prohibition on the production, sale and transport of intoxicating liquors. The act entitled all the related activities of alcohol as illegal.
