What was the purpose of the bill of rights

Bill of rights protects the rights of the citizens of the country from violation.

Explanation:

The Bill of rights is a result of first ten amendment. It was passed by United States congress on 25 September 1789. It was ratified in 15 December 1791 it is an important right enacted for the citizen of a country.

This bill is mainly influenced by Virginia declaration of right.  It fulfills the purpose of protecting those rights from any kind of violations from citizens or public officials. It can be both entrenched and not entrenched.
