As the constitution was proposed there was much debate between the federalists and anti-federalists regarding the powers our central government should have. there was also great concern on the part of the anti-federalists, that the constitution lacked a bill of rights. why do you suppose these issues were of concern for them? why was the idea of a bill of rights so important to some? what about you? if you had lived in the colonial era, would you have insisted on the addition of a bill of rights? why/not?
