How did the invention of the cotton gin affect slavery in the united states?

The invention of Eli Whitney's cotton gin (or engine) in 1794 essentially increased slavery in the American South at the time. The cotton gin made cleaning cotton much faster and easier. As such, cotton production was very much increased, and therefore more slaves were needed to work on the cotton plantations

well let's see i know a little about the fall of the roman empore but what to say i do not have a clue of what to say.
