slavery started because there wasn't enough workers to work in the field and the rich people were not going to get out in the field and do hard manual labor.

the slaves were brought over here by ships and they were sold to slave owners.

they worked in the fields and took care of basic house duties such as cleaning the house cooking and taking care of the children.
