The Venetians contributed to the fall of the Byzantine's empire as they participated in the  Forth Crusade which conquered Byzantine's capital. The majority of soldiers were Venetians. Byzantine slowly weakened and was conquered by the Ottoman Turks.

Explanation: For centuries the Venetians had special trading rights to the Mediterranean. in return for these rights the Venetians protected the Byzantine ships. False accusations were made at the Venetian empire attacked the Byzantine territory. This then resulted in great disappointment between them both. Attempts to resolve this newly developed issue were made and failed. One of these attempts were a treaty. Two wars started between them. Upon the Venetians turning one the Byzantine the Venetians participated in crusades made against the Byzantine which resulted in the its downfall.
