How did american public opinion about the soviet union change after world war 2

 Apparently, opinions the population of the world had about the Soviet Union before and after World War II remained basically the same. The one thing is that the Soviet Union gained a lot of respect for the manner in which her armed forces fought against the Nazis and for the numbers of those who died to defend the Soviet Union.
